Zen Coding: Shorthand For The Efficient Coder

Lately I've been playing with a shorthand code editing plugin called Zen Coding that works incredibly well. The nitty gritty of what it does is simple. Take the example markup:

This can be simplified as: div#wrapper>(div#top>div.left+div.right)+(div#middle>h1+p)+(div#bottom>p)

China Strikes Back at Google

China Strikes Back at Google: Of course this would happen the right after Google decided to un-censor itself.
The company may be making the Chinese government a little angry for going back on their written agreements, but what’s a company being attacked supposed to do?
Hopefully no one will politicize the issue and cause this to become more than a corporate conflict.
In the end I don’t think Google can be totally shut out of China. Too many users, too many manufacturers, and too much integration already. If China shuts them out they’ll be in a world of painful re-working of already established products (like having the google toolbar on China Mobile phones).

Google Stops Result Censoring In China

Google Stops Result Censoring In China: Google finally stopped censoring their search results in China, apparently this is all related to some crackers in China accessing the gmail accounts of human rights activists. Check out the details on Google’s blog.

Islands music video featuring Michael Cera, pretty funny to watch him trip out. I’m sure everyone has already seen this but in case you haven’t, go watch it.
The whole Vapours album is great and Nick Diamonds dropped another song from his upcoming solo album which you can find here: http://www.islandsareforever.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/gone-bananas-rough-mix1.mp3

Read The Kanji: If you’re learning japanese this is a pretty awesome resource, even though kanji is in the name it also covers the kana.

Create a simple jQuery popup from textfield value

Create a simple jquery popup for the value of a textfield

This post mainly revolves around a tool I made for myself that some people out there thought was neat, so here's how to make it. The tool takes the input of a textfield, wraps it in an anchor tag and pops it up in a nice little window for you to click on, pretty simple eh? I don't use much validation in it, mostly because I haven't felt like messing with regular expressions in my free time (Who does?).

A Conversation With Square Enix Support About Final Fantasy XIV

Today FFXIII released in English and even though I have a Japanese copy which I've played through, I still had to buy it in English. Surprisingly the store still had a copy and since I didn't pre-order this was good. No cool special-edition strategy guides left though.
